MAY 2016. Our paper on the diet of Louisiana Waterthrush (Parkesia motacilla) nestlings has been published in The Auk! We used a non-invasive molecular technique to elucidate diet from residual prey DNA in feces. The article is open access and freely available here:  http://dx.doi.org/10.1642/AUK-15-222.1

APRIL 2016. With spring right arounds the corner, the breeding season for Louisiana Waterthrush is already underway! Waterthrush are among the earliest migrants to return to the breeding grounds - often arriving in late March with nestlings hatching in late April. Aquatic insects seem to be a very important food resource for these
